THEY CALL IT FOLKSY JAZZ: A LITTLE BACKSTORY

The names Kenny & Dorene came around when they performed in a version of A Christmas Carol: Radio Show.  During which they came up with their names, Kenny Sweven and Dorene Lamarque.

Most of their favorite music is folk and jazz influenced, so it comes out when they play with a hybrid of the two.  They call it Folksy Jazz.

Kenny & Dorene (a.k.a. Aidan Driscoll and Rebekah Novinger) became friends over a game of chess in 2012.  Two short years later, Rebekah said a surprisingly eloquent line, and upon hearing it, both responded with, “That could be a song!”  Soon after, their time was filled with new ideas about music. Music was the growing topic every time they saw each other.

Within their first year they were playing original songs at local street markets, continuing on into co-writing musicals together (Book Travelers, On the Road to Verona) which have been performed in Rochester, MN and Minneapolis, MN respectively.

With Rebekah's love of Frank Sinatra, and Aidan's love for Johnny Flynn, they found that by infusing these influences they've come to share a very similar love for music and the music industry.  But, at the end of the day, they’re two  good friends who love music and want to share it with others.
